Which type of home body are you?

Mintel’s report entitled “Consumer Trends, Attitudes and Spending Habits for the Home - UK - January 2019” states that there are four main target groups for spending on the home. These include the Social Target Group, who are typically aged 16-34. This group is more likely to rent privately than own their own home, and tend to have moved within the last two years. They enjoy inviting friends in for food and drink and enjoy having people to stay.

The Private Target Group are the least wealthy, typically older males and often living in social housing. The third group is the Proud Target Group, who are typically female aged 35+ with children at home. They are house-proud and enjoy watching TV with others in the living room.

Finally, there is the creative segment. These are typically family households with young children, who enjoy hands-on pastimes including DIY, hobbies at home and gardening. These shoppers are the most active spenders on the home.
