Co-op estimates that 23 million over 50s are unprepared for the inevitable
In an article produced by Co-op Funeralcare they “reveal the nation’s reluctance to talk about death and the consequences this can have”.
“Just 9% of those aged 50 and over have a funeral plan in place and 74% of UK adults say recent events have not encouraged them to discuss their later life wishes with their loved ones”.
“Those aged 50 and over in the North East are most likely to have a funeral plan in place, and 69 is the average age we take steps to plan a funeral”.
“Co-op Funeralcare reveals that an estimated 23 million* over 50s in the UK are unprepared for the inevitable, which could lead to a lot of uncertainty and distress for loved ones later down the line.”
“Findings from the Co-op** revealed that just 9% of those aged 50 and over have a funeral plan in place, leaving an estimated 23 million over 50s unprepared for the inevitable. Those living in the North East are the most prepared in this situation, with 14% of over 50s having funeral plans in place compared to just 5% in Scotland and the South East.” Read more.
